Cat Years to Human Years Chart

Short answer: a 1-year-old cat is about 15 in human years, a 2-year-old about 24, and each year after that adds about 4 human years. So a 10-year-old cat is about 56 and a 15-year-old about 76.

The formula

1 year = 15 human years
2 years = 24 human years
After 2: human years = 24 + 4 × (cat age − 2)

Why the 7 year rule is wrong for cats

A 1-year-old cat is sexually mature and nearly full size, much more like a teenager than a 7-year-old child. After the second year, cats age about 4 human years per year, so the 7 year rule overstates the age of older cats.
